科學家發現慣性流產成因，將研預防方法
自然流產是一種普遍現象，且很可能反復出現，形成慣性流產（連續流產三次或以上）。英國華威大學（University of Warwick）研究者們近日發現，慣性流產很可能是由於女性子宮內膜裏的幹細胞不足，若能在下次懷孕前彌補子宮內膜的缺陷，就有望避免再度流產。
「對於那些慣性流產者而言，這可能是預防流產的唯一方法。 」研究者之一、華威大學教授Jan Brosens表示。
這項研究由華威大學的醫學院和系統生物學中心合作進行，發表於權威期刊《幹細胞》（Stem Cell）。研究者們觀察了183名女性的子宮內膜組織，發現在那些慣性流產的女性的子宮內膜組織中，可被分離的幹細胞數量更少。
此外，研究者們還發現缺少幹細胞會加速子宮老化。子宮內膜會在月經、流產、分娩後自我更新，這種更新能力取決於幹細胞數量。當幹細胞不足時，子宮內膜細胞就會加速老化，從而增加癌症反應，對胚胎發育產生不利影響。
博客來網路書局
研究者之一、華威大學教授 Siobhan Quenby 表示，在發現慣性流產成因後，他們將在今年春季起研究如何預防慣性流產。初步的研究方向包括研發新的子宮內膜測試方法，及早對慣性流產風險較高的女性進行篩查，其次將研究增加這些女性的子宮內膜幹細胞數量的方法，包括服藥或其他助孕方法。
除流產外，不孕症也困擾著不少想生孩子的女性。今年2月，美國一名患有子宮性不孕症（Uterine Factor Infertility）的26歲女性接受了子宮移植手術，成為美國國內首例，但最終因術後併發症移除了子宮。在瑞典，這項手術目前成功率較高，至今已成功進行7次移植手術，其中5人移植後已誕下嬰兒。
